The Crabfest Was A Huge Success!

A perfect day weather-wise helped lead to a turnout of 280 to 300, which beat our previous attendance records by a mile. Our great volunteer crew, led by Ann Mische and Vicki Sabin, did a magnificent job in creating a welcoming atmosphere, and our speakers, Tim Kaine and Leslie Cockburn, helped inspire us to work even harder this fall. Among the crowd were Congressman Jamie Raskin from Maryland, State Senator Creigh Deeds, Virginia House of Delegates Minority Leader David Toscano, and Washington Post reporter Marc Fisher. While we don’t have a final total of how much money was raised, we’re quite sure it’s more than enough to fund all our activities for the next year.  We always want to give a big thanks to Al and Suiling Weed for their amazing generosity in sharing the beautiful Mountain Cove Vineyard. The Crabfest is becoming an institution and we hope to continue to improve the experience of our guests.  Now it’s on to a big win in November.
